If we cantaloupe, Lettuce marry. Pregnancy Update {Week 20}

Why yes, that is a cell phone photo of me in the bathroom at the gym at Emory Oxford, thanks for asking :)

How far along? 20 weeks, 1 day - over the hump...it's all down hill from here, right?

How big is baby?  The fruit of the week is a cantaloupe, but if you've seen the summer supply of them right now you've probably seen ones that are way bigger than what The Bump calls the cantaloupe/baby Average size: 6.5 inches, 10.6 oz.

It's amazing that the genitals are fully formed (let's discuss: if I am having a girl that means the eggs that will become my future grand children are inside the baby that's inside me. Whoa!).  Our 20 week ultrasound is TOMORROW.  If all goes well we'll learn if we're expecting a boy or a girl. Squeeeeeal! I can't wait :)

Total weight gain: I was shocked! Shocked! When I got on the scale today: 20lbs gained exactly.  I was hoping after 10 days of walking 2 miles a day it wouldn't be so scary, but aahh, it was.  I am very curious as to what the midwife will say tomorrow.  For my pre-pregnancy BMI I am only supposed to gain 20-25 lbs total.  We're clearly moving faster than that.

Maternity Clothes? Yes, ma'am.  I am also officially too big to wear any of my t-shirts without my belly hanging out, which I do around the house and it makes Eric laugh. I've been wearing his large tshirts, but my best fitting tee these days is the XL I hi-jacked from my dad's closet the other day. Shhhh!

For the wedding on Saturday I went with the blue dress from Motherhood Maternity, shoes are Kelly & Katie (from DSW), and earrings and a headband from Target.  The earrings & headband on my Pinterest board aren't exactly what I wore, but they're close. You get the idea...

Stretch Marks?  Everything is looking as it did before.  Still thankful that nothing is appearing on my belly!

Leachco Preggle Comfort Air-Flow Body Pillow, Ivory/KhakiSleep: I had a hard time adjusting to the bed at CLI, but since I've been back I've slept through the night twice! Walking daily, stretching and sitting on a yoga ball for 10+ minutes 2x a day has really helped my back and therefore my sleeping.  I also bought this body pillow and it's made sleeping a bit more comfortable for every part of my body!

Movement: Guess what?!?!  I FINALLY feel Ninja Baby moving!  It's so incredible. It's only been about once a day but I can definitely tell it's a jab, kick, punch, roll, or whatever and not gas. ha!  The first time I felt it I was laying in bed at CLI and felt three jabs move down the side of my uterus - it was a distinct pushing feeling.  If I feel a movement or two inside, I quickly put my hands on that spot but haven't been able to feel anything on the outside yet.

Food cravings:  Waffles with syrup! Love that sweet & buttery taste :)  Living on cafeteria food and road trip food for 10 days I didn't let myself have cravings.  I did sneak out twice for some cantaloupe, but I tried to be satisfied with what I was given this week.

What I miss: Rolling over in bed with ease. Cooking with out being afraid grease will splatter and burn my belly. Having to do laundry so often (limited wardrobe isn't bothering me, I just spill so much stuff on me!).

What I am looking forward to: Seeing baby ninja on the ultrasound tomorrow.  Finding out if it's a boy or a girl!  Serious discussions on baby names.

Milestones: On Friday when I returned home from CLI I gave Eric a hug and for the first time (since oh, third grade?) my belly hit before my boobs did!

Remember how I said I hate that people don't share the gory stories, just the glory stores? Well, I guess that means I am on my honor to say that I had hemorrhoids for the first time in my life. Most. Painful. Thing. Ever.  The End.

Say What?
This week at CLI was certainly full of little gems - every girl had to ask me how far along I am, or if we knew the sex of the baby.  Part way through the week one of the girls exclaimed, "why are you so cute, like ALL the TIME!?!?!"

At the wedding brunch Katherine's grandmother came over to us and said, "You know your life is about to change forever, right?  I mean, just in case you didn't know."  And we all busted up laughing :)

Sweet moments: Back in high school Eric apparently took Katherine & Elisabeth for a wild ride in the Jeep (does this surprise anyone?) to the point where the girls came home crying.  Later in the week Eric stopped by the house to hang out and their dad laid into him about reckless driving.  The girls were too scared to even rescue Eric from their dad's reprimands!  When we first saw the dad at the wedding on Saturday, he congratulated me on the baby and then turned to Eric, pointed at my belly and said, "PAY BACK!!!!!" with an evil laugh.

I've been impressed with Eric striking up conversations with young/new dads at parties, asking them about strollers, wraps, feedings, etc.  Precious :)

Make room for baby: I am so thankful for Alyshia and Rebecca and their lengthy emails on baby gear.  I am certainly taking lots of notes! We are hoping to go register by the end of the month.

Oh, and THIS: There are days when my feet are too swollen to comfortably wear shoes. It's usually later in the day or right after I've had food high in sodium.  This is why I skipped the awesome peep-toe heels I'd planned to wear to the wedding in favor of sandals.

We are officially signed up for Bradley Childbirth classes.
We start on Saturday. Looking forward to new friends and learning all about baby!

Where has she been?*

It's been a while, friends. Hi! Where did we leave off?  Ah yes, the roach .  He's still alive.  It's been over 10 days.  Though, he's slowing down and looking a little skinnier than when we first found him.  Maybe I'm making it up. I've started my new job with my friends lawn maintenance company.  Most of my time has been spent learning all the new (to me) software, moving the office to it's new locations, and just learning what the company does and offers.  Chris and I have had a great time working together so far.  I'm really enjoying learning new things.  Chris has already taught me a lot about great customer service. This weekend was my last retreat with middle school kids.  It was bittersweet. We had a spirit filled weekend full of lots of laughs, low ropes, rock wall, ultimate frisbee, prayer, and learning about Jesus. Our theme was "You Never Let Go" and we discussed three parables:  The Lost Sheep, The Lost Coin, ...

Baking with Betty: Dunwoody Dip

You're probably asking yourself, what is Dunwoody Dip? And it's a great question! It's easy to make. Melty. Cheesy. Meaty. A little bit spicy. And everyone LOVES it!  The origin, though, it's a more difficult to nail down.  My grandmother, who is from Dunwoody, Ga, actually heard about this dip when she was visiting friends in Denver.  Urban legend has it that some guy brought the dip to a party in Denver and when prompted for a name he stalled and said "Dunwoody Dip." Because, apparently he was from Dunwoody.   Who really knows? All I do know, is that this dip is yummy, very easy to make, and is always the first gone at a party or family get together.  Also, Eric might have married me because of this... Dunwoody Dip Ingredients: One tube of Jimmy Dean Hot Sausage Two cans of Rotel Tomatoes - Hot Two bars of Cream Cheese Big bag of Fritos Scoops Directions: Preheat oven to 325. In a large frying pan over medium-ish heat, brown the sausage. ...
