Bump Watch: Week 23

How far along? 23 weeks today!

How big is baby? At my 22 week check up the midwife said I continue to measure a week a head of my due date. Evie measured about a week ahead as well.  Eric might get his wish of sharing a birthday with his baby girl!

Total weight gain? According to the weigh-in the midwife, I've gained about 12ish pounds. I need to put new batteries in our scale. I don't want any surprises after cookie season Christmas is over.

Maternity clothes?  I thought I was done. And then the Gap at our mall is closing. I scored a sweet deal on another light weight sweater, tshirt, and leggings. I couldn't resist.  Also, I don't think I mentioned the maternity coat my sister got for me on Black Friday. It's a lightweight puffy coat with a hood. It doesn't look maternity and I fully plan to wear it for winters to come. It's been off and on really cold here, so I'm glad I bought it. I can't zip or button any of my coats anymore!

Stretch marks? Nothing new!

Belly button? I stand by my "butt end of a hotdog" look.

Exercise I need to. Trying to do 5-10 minutes of stretching and yoga at night. I'm ready to start Jazzercise and/or Oh Baby Fitness in January!

Sleep Most nights, really well. Occasionally it takes me 2 hours to fall asleep, or I randomly wake up for the day around 4:30 or 5.

Movement:  So much! At surprising times too! I felt a head poking out the other day. I love that we're getting to that body part identification stage!

Food cravings: I haven't eaten an orange in 10-15 years. I hate the way they smell on my hands. But OH MY GOSH I am having two a day right now...even if I have to scrub my hands in Blue Dawn after.

Food aversions: Same old!

What I miss: Bending straight over. The squat is now in full affect.  And carrying Evie upstairs/around without getting winded.

What I am looking forward to: Getting life with two started! Seriously - come out and snuggle with us Baby Girl!

Milestones: The pregnancy treatment has arrived --- "Here, you sit down."  Or "let me carry that for you"  Why this doesn't happen when you have a newborn, I'm not sure, but I'll take it any time I can get it :)

Say What? This one involves a little back story.  Every other Monday night in the Fall my friend Alyshia and I would go out with our priest friend for a light dinner after our respective meetings/classes were finished.  We found out this establishment serves half glasses of wine. With a stressful Fall, but both of us being pregnant, the half-glass of wine has been the perfect compromise.  Well Alyshia and I had taken great care to cover our growing bumps to ensure they continue serving us.  Well, the other night the priest went to this restaurant without us and the waiter said, "Hey were are your pregnant drinking friends?"
Oops. Busted.

Sweet moments: Overheard Evie telling her friend "no, that's my baby sister" though I'm not sure what she was actually talking about.

Make room for baby:  Getting Evie's big girl room ready! The furniture has 2 coats of primer and half of it's painted. Was hoping to make a Christmas morning deadline, but it's just not happening. It's been too humid for the primer and paint to cure between coats.  I've also bought some frames and such to put in the nursery to replace some of the things Evie will take with her to her big girl room.

I've also finished up a very small registry with buybuybaby (a new crib sheet, some new blankies, pump parts, etc) and Kellyscloset.com

With some of the incredible sales at Carters, Gap and Gymboree I've purchased a few spring and summer things baby girl will need. Evie had mostly long sleeves and fleece pants because she was born in the winter. Just bought a few staples in a lighter weight for a newborn in the summer in Georgia.

Oh, and THIS:
Meredith gave us a book called Angel in the Waters and we bought another one called Where Do Babies Come From? both by Catholic/Christian authors.  And my MIL gave us one called Sisters.
They've been great to read with Evie, however, I can't make it through any of them with out a tissue or two...or three.

I really love Gap Maternity leggings. That is all.

Compared to Evie: Not achy or puffy, feet aren't nearly as swollen, and I can still wear my rings with ease. Back doesn't hurt much at all.  Really, it's been smooth sailing compared to Evie!  Her 22 week update and the 23&24 week update

Where has she been?*

It's been a while, friends. Hi! Where did we leave off?  Ah yes, the roach .  He's still alive.  It's been over 10 days.  Though, he's slowing down and looking a little skinnier than when we first found him.  Maybe I'm making it up. I've started my new job with my friends lawn maintenance company.  Most of my time has been spent learning all the new (to me) software, moving the office to it's new locations, and just learning what the company does and offers.  Chris and I have had a great time working together so far.  I'm really enjoying learning new things.  Chris has already taught me a lot about great customer service. This weekend was my last retreat with middle school kids.  It was bittersweet. We had a spirit filled weekend full of lots of laughs, low ropes, rock wall, ultimate frisbee, prayer, and learning about Jesus. Our theme was "You Never Let Go" and we discussed three parables:  The Lost Sheep, The Lost Coin, ...

Baking with Betty: Dunwoody Dip

You're probably asking yourself, what is Dunwoody Dip? And it's a great question! It's easy to make. Melty. Cheesy. Meaty. A little bit spicy. And everyone LOVES it!  The origin, though, it's a more difficult to nail down.  My grandmother, who is from Dunwoody, Ga, actually heard about this dip when she was visiting friends in Denver.  Urban legend has it that some guy brought the dip to a party in Denver and when prompted for a name he stalled and said "Dunwoody Dip." Because, apparently he was from Dunwoody.   Who really knows? All I do know, is that this dip is yummy, very easy to make, and is always the first gone at a party or family get together.  Also, Eric might have married me because of this... Dunwoody Dip Ingredients: One tube of Jimmy Dean Hot Sausage Two cans of Rotel Tomatoes - Hot Two bars of Cream Cheese Big bag of Fritos Scoops Directions: Preheat oven to 325. In a large frying pan over medium-ish heat, brown the sausage. ...
